Pro 5 Vis cranks have gone out of production. But TA made one last run of them. These were made in celebration of TA's 60th anniversary. This may be your last chance to get THE classic cyclo touring crank.
With today's 8, 9 and 10 speed cassettes most folks do not need triples. With a crank like this you can run 48/30 or 46/30 rings (as I do) and handle any reasonable terrain. You can slog up mountains with 30-28 and pedal down hills in 48-12. The advantages include a lower q-factor, less weighs, simpler and less frequent shifting, a simpler drive line, and a better chain-line. There is also a certain elegance in having eliminated a bunch of gearing combinations that you'll almost never use.
Most chainrings from 26t to 64t are available and will continue to be made. We recommend a 115mm-118mm BB for a double configuration and a 120-121mm BB for a triple. Tread, or Q-factor, is about 138 for a double; that's the lowest of any crank made today. Weight for the arms is around 325-345gms
Pedal threading is regular "British thread" so any modern pedals will fit.
