I have used this tape for over seven years on two bikes. I commute all year around, so it has seen alls sorts of weather. I have re-wrapped it several times and once I treat it and ride it a while, it still looks just fine. I like the worn look, anyway. So I bought some black tape for another bike because I am sick of bar tape lasting a year or so. This is worth every penny.

I got the brown tape to replace the stitched leather bar wrap previously on the handlebars. I loved the wrap, but this tape is a much better fit for aero bars. Looks good already with a coat of Obenauf's, and I get the pleasure of watching a new leather treatment develop its character. My one minor quibble is that the instructions could have been a smidge clearer for dummies like me. I didn't understand you're supposed to trim to length on the diagonal, not perpendicular to the tape. I almost trimmed too short and ruined the tape, but I had just enough length to make it work!

As others have reported—and as Velo Orange (now) themselves admit—the Macchiato color is really a bright orange. So, neither macchiato (which should be brown, the result of adding a trace of milk to black coffee), nor honey. I dyed mine with Honey-color Angelus Leather Dye. The results match my Brooks B17 Honey saddle and my Brooks/Ergon Honey grips. You will probably get a more uniform color if you dye before installing the leather bar tape. A good product, with no splices (unlike the Brooks leather bar tape), but I take one star away for having to apply my own dye.

Excellent feel and look to this leather tape. Don’t expect the macchiato color to match your honey brown saddle. Not sure where to get a red macchiato. I’d call it brick.

Not sure how you can call this reddish-brown, almost conker-coloured tape 'honey' with a straight face, but the leather itself is very very nice. No joins, and no paper-thin weak spots unlike some other premium brands. I wish it didn't have the adhesive strip down the back because that really doesn't help for getting it on, which does need some care and repositioning to get it looking tidy. Some people like the sticky back, so I'll just have to deal with it. Feels great, looks good (gaah! Wrong colour), high quality tape.
