Cold forged and machined from 7075 aluminum alloy this chainset is strong and light. The 42 tooth chainring features a narrow-wide profile for excellent chain retention for all drivetrain styles.

All stainless hardware with allen head nuts/bolts. Includes aluminum machined dust caps and BB bolts. Dust caps function as self extracting crank hardware.

great but check your clearance!

These are great. I’ve had them on two builds and they work perfectly. I only have two small gripes.

First, there are very few options available for silver narrow-wide chainrings. I’d like to see VO make a couple more options available. 42T is fine for me but some people may want slightly smaller or larger and will have a hard time finding a narrow wide that aesthetically matches.

The other thing to watch out for is chainstay clearance. Since the crank arms are straight, they can interfere with some chain stays or kickstands. I had to use a BB with a 127mm spindle to clear the stays on one of my bikes and was unable to clear a kickstand all together on another. Both of these bikes were Rivendells with long stay lengths and wide tire clearance. This issue will probably come up on other, similar frames so be aware.

I've been running a VO 2x on my commuter/bikepacking/gravel/trail bike for over a decade. Ended up disconnecting the front derailleur and had been using the double as a 1x 48T chainring for several years. Finally pulled the trigger on the Single Ring Narrow-Wide and I love it. It looks super sleek, gives me a better range of gears at 42T, and is super high quality. Happy with the purchase. VO parts are great!

My Perfect Cranks

These are beautifully made, stiff, and have a narrow q factor. If you like the classic style cranksets (like Campy Record Pista) this is a stiffer modern improvement, and by varying the bottom bracket axle length, you can get a custom fit. The chainring has held up perfectly over a season of riding but can be swapped to get the desired gearing. Would recommend a narrow/wide tooth profile like the 42 tooth that comes as standard - these seem to stay cleaner in off-road riding.
