Pedals and Pavement: Mark's Nightride Polyvalent

I am a self-proclaimed petrol-head. I have been into cars and the automotive scene for the majority of my life. This is me from '96 in front of Nissan's newest 300ZX. I had pretty good style.

Well, I was absolutely over the moon when Mark from one of my favorite Youtube channels, Nightride, was interested in getting a new bike. They build cars for drifting with Japanese street style and while I don't have any current plans on getting sideways, their authentic builds, positive attitudes, and fun progress videos make for such a great time.

Mark was looking for a bike that he could ride comfortably to the garage, around town, to the skatepark, and just get away from cars and sanding for a bit. Together we settled on a Polyvalent Diamond frame, DT Swiss 650b wheels, flat bars, and Sram drivetrain. The rest was up to us! Surprise me, he said. "Whatever it is, I know it'll be great."

We opted for a mostly black build with some pops of silver and brass. I think it's quite handsome! I rode it around for a bit to take some pics and I really loved it. It's super comfortable, stable, capable, and quite speedy.

Handlebars are our Seine Bars with Sram Apex Shifter and Grand Cru Levers with our Foam Grips. Pretty solid setup. No fuss.

The bike kept rolling away just a tiny bit while I was taking pictures, so I found an all-natural brake lever keeper to make sure it stayed put.

The stem is our Threadless offering with a 1 1/8" Headset and a stack of Thin-Wall Alloy Spacers with a Brass one stuck in there as an accent. Sweat the details! They will take a build to the next level.

I know he's into skateboarding, so we mounted a Fairdale skateboard rack to our Campeur Rack. The last time I was consistently on a skateboard was college on an Element Thing deck, but I feel like I could do a kickflip if someone gave me a board and said, "do a kickflip!"

Drivetrain is SRAM Apex with a 42t crankset paired with an 11-42 cassette. Plenty of gearing and easy to maintain. Mark has enough maintaining to do of his Blessed/Cursed E30 and Lada, his bike doesn't need to be in the mix, too.

And to bring his rig to a quick stop, you know we went with our favorite disc brake: Growtac Equal.

Haha This is CRAZY! I’m also a fellow car nerd & also a huge fan of the Nightride boys for years now. What a crazy crossover! Beautiful build!
