New Things We're Working On and Timeline Updates
I've always been one to be pretty transparent when we're working on projects. I like hearing feedback from our readers because I know you're probably just as nerdy as we are when it comes to dialing in your bike's fit, finish, and utility. We've been getting some new product prototypes and shipment confirmations the past little while, so I thought it might be a good time to do a bit of show and tell!
Utility Bars
We have been loving these. Clint has gone touring with them and I've been using them all around town for all sorts of errands. They're just so darn useful.
Tim Fitzwater has a set that he'll be using with a photography bag he carries around to different events. He said while he likes the bag, its inconvenient for riding, so finds himself driving instead. Since he can just bungee the bag down, he'll be riding to more gigs! Sounds like a win to me.
Russ from Path Less Pedaled has a set he's testing. And hot dog it looks so good.
Guitar Ted has a Utility Bar and Rack setup he's been testing as part of his podcasting role:
"I also strapped on my Pelican case for my Rodecaster Pro unit and took that a couple of times over to N.Y. Roll's home and back for recording podcasts. It was great to slap on a couple bungees to hold the case and just haul it over there."
We have some other bars and racks out in the world for review, so stay tuned!
Crescent Cages
These sideloader cages will be available in both Left and Right pulls, and will be on the website around mid-June. One thing you'll want to consider when ordering multiple cages for the same bike is that you'll want to order the opposite if you want them to face the same way on different tubes. For example, if you want double right (driveside) entry, you'll want one right and one left (one for the downtube and one for the seattube). Otherwise they'll be opposite sides.
Rando Frames
They're in the production schedule and should be done around mid-July and arrive some time in August. They're just such a treat to ride. Simplicity, performance, and comfort. That Venn Diagram has the Rando right in the middle.
Piolet Frames
Same as the Rando, the next gen Piolet will be here some time in August. They'll be wearing Metallic Moss paint and will feature thru-axles.
Gibbous Cages
These will be the same general style as the above Crescent Cages, but bigger for Nalgene-sized bottles. So for those with half-frame bags you can pull a Nalgene out without worries. They'll also have a 5 hole, slotted backing plate so you can dial in your cage position.
Minim Rack
This palindromic rack is a really simple, lightweight, and utilitarian rack that can be used on the rear and front of your bike.
Like the Utility Bars, these also feature welded on threaded inserts so you can mount a bottle cage, Utility Rack, or cargo-style cage. I can't wait to see how people set these up.
They're still in testing, and we're dialing in the hardware, but these are very close to the final appearance.
Out of Stock Items
Some items you've been patiently waiting on including Campeur Rear Racks, Fenders, Stems, and Far Bars should be mid-June. Most other products we normally carry will be re-stocked then as well. Growtac Flat Mount Brakes are early August.
That's the round-up for now! Happy riding!
Any chance at all the updated piolet will have the current metallic blue in its production cycle? Just what I was looking for.
What is the geometry/ size chart for new Piolet?
@Jet,
Because of Covid, they shut down their “heritage” division and focused on their main income, commercial seals and rubber. It wasn’t really restarted. We’ve asked. Bummer, but it was cool while it lasted.
Whatever happened to Rustines & their awesome grips?
@ Tony- max 28 mm with fenders, 38 mm without fenders
