It's difficult to get good fender line on a bike with huge clearances in the fork crown. The fender flute lowers the fork crown to mount your front fender lower. The fork must be open-style.

Not necessary with VO frames because they are designed for fenders and have a proper threaded braze-on.

Works perfectly!

I have a Trek Checkpoint and could not, for the life of me, get the front fender to fit (Portland Design Works Full Metal Fenders). Then I found this little guy and it was a game changer. Easy to use as well!
