When I purchased a VO frame several years ago the choices in a threaded headset were minimal. You have the high end pressed in or thread less or a stamped steel lose bearing wonder. Installed this one with the help of a friend that has the head tube and crown race tools. Except for lightly reaming the head tube it fit like a glove. I have heard of cyclists getting 25 K plus miles from these. This is a great little gem at a very reasonable cost. Highly recommended.

I bought this for a mid 90s Specialized Hard Rock Sport. I should have paid closer attention to all of the specs of my bike because it turns out my bike is a 1" JIS standard. This headset is a 1" ISO standard. The only difference is the fork crown race. This kit only comes with a 26.4mm split ring crown race (1" ISO). I tried to force the 26.4mm crown race onto my 27mm fork but it didn't work. I bought a 27mm sealed bearing crown race from another company but it didn't fit 100%. The beveled section is too wide, so the lower bearing doesn't seat all the way. I put the headset together with the new fork crown race anyways and rode the bike, but I'd still like to find a 100% solution. I wish this kit also came with a 27mm fork crown race, would make my life so much easier. And it's probably only a $.25 part. I still give the kit a 5 star review as the bearings and everything are great and my issues with the kit are my own fault for not reviewing the specs in more detail. Lesson learned.

Decent quality the headset itself is very thin. Made me a little nervous to install but everything went well.

This fit my old MTB perfectly! The mirror finish exactly matches the finish of this bike too--so shiny.
