Decaleurs are traditional quick-release mounts for handlebar bags. Unlike some modern bag mounts, they keep the bag low for better handling and for keeping the handlebars clear. The VO fork mount receiver is mounted on the fork's steerer tube either below the headset lock nut or within the spacer stack.

Please remember that a decaleur is intended as a quick-release mechanism, not a support for the full weight of the bag; the bag must still rest on a rack or on the fender. Fork mounted decaleurs can be bent slightly to adjust the bag's height, but they might not work with very tall or short frames (for those frames we recommend a front rack with an Integrated Decaleur).

Note: We strongly recommend that you use at least one strap or elastic cord, in addition to the decaleur, to secure your bag to your front rack. If you hit a large bump or pothole, it is possible that your bag could bounce up, detaching the bag from the decaleur receiver.

Good so far

So far so good, I've heard of long-term durability issues with these, but after a few months mine shows no signs os failure. I am using RaClips from Waxwing Bags however, which provide a very stable bag underside/rack connection, essentially eliminating both vertical and lateral movement. Also running a Rene Herse bag strut inside my Berthoud bag which also adds stability and prevents sway. It's my hope that both of these take some stress off the decaleur and the welded o-ring joint.

To the folks advocating for a tab on the o-ring to prevent the headset from loosening: this is a bad idea. Being steel, it will gouge the threaded headset's threads as it moves laterally and ruin them. A loose headset will then be the least of your problems!

With these I can easily transfer the decaleur equipped bag between bikes.

poor design

i don’t have many choices when it comes
to Decaleurs so i’m stuck with the Velo Orange for now. It fails at the O ring weld to the “fork” piece after about 12 months use or so. I ride plenty of rough gravel on my camping trips with full loads which is beyond the capability of this design and material. Actively searching for a new solution. For now, it’s the cost of
doing business.

Solid as a rock

I run a big bag on the front of my commuter, and my commute has a couple of good gravel stretches. The decaleur fork receiver keeps the bag rooted to the rack, which keeps my lunch and gear safe and happy.

this decaleur is great! this is the third one I bought so I can transfer my bag to different bikes. I hope in the future they can make a slightly longer one with a subtle curve for bigger frames. I was able to make this one work with a little modification though. Buy it be dope with a rando bag
