Rough Stuff Fellowship Archive

$38.00

This book is an incredible look back at a style of cycling rarely seen anymore. The Rough Stuff Fellowship is a group of cyclists in the UK that are the oldest off road cycling club in the world. They've been traveling where roads don't go since 1955. The club recently hired an archivist and the treasure trove of photos and such that has been collected is amazing.

This book brings together, in 207 pages and over 190 photos, all full page, scenes from a time when cyclists wore bucket hats in summer and bobble hats in winter - when taking your bike for a walk through the highlands of Scotland or the fjords of Norway was a normal holiday.

It's a compendium of photos that give you a window into cycle touring in a simpler times and if you need some inspiration for your tour, this is the book for you.

This is the second edition of the book. It is now a soft cover edition.

This book is an inspirational photographic journey that reminds us about the opportunity that exists for us to enjoy a life well lived. We need not be professional wheelmen to enjoy the effort---the suffering, the laughter, the sunlight, or the snow as we leverage our bodies forward while pedaling a bicycle. We simply need fellowship, and a child's foolish desire to discover what lurks beyond the next hill, or the next town. This book will inspire you on that journey.

Inspirational, gorgeous

I loved the humble pedestrian view of epic bicycle touring history. It’s a reminder of how little tech is need for a proper adventure. Glad I bought this book and I’ve repeatedly thumbed through the beautiful photographs for inspiration.

I would have liked to see more prose to accompany the pictures. Even if some of the earlier participants are no longer around to tell the stories about the pictures, more could have been said about the aims, intentions, goals, membership of the fellowship.
