OK so they weren't really made for my bike specifically. And my bike wasn't made to have fenders. And my bike and these fenders weren't made to have a 2 cycle engine driving them. That being said this is my second set of velo orange fenders on this bike. I had the hammered aluminum 45mm. No matter what the spot where I drilled a hole would crack and break off. Maybe they were too narrow for my tires. So I went with these wider zeppelin ones this time. There's over 3000 miles on this bike and I drive it like it's my car. Every day rain shine show sleet hail whatever. These fenders are very durable and sturdy. I definitely recommend velo orange. If they can last as long as they did with all the engine vibrations and how I abuse this thing you know they are good. But I can't help but think that the flaw in the rear fender, the one that keeps breaking on me, is that there is not enough support. Like it was made for frames that have a top tube parallel with the ground and the seat stays at a steeper angle so the seat stay bridge is higher up. So I added a support to the back fender that is almost vertical using spare parts from my broken set. The instructions are also not very good. It's understandable that every bike frame is different but certain things are just too vague. Like use leather washers to help with vibrations. Where exactly? Under the fender? Won't they get dry rotted? And what about the adhesive supports? Do you really need them? Where do they go exactly? I wasn't aware that you should file down the holes you drill and smooth them out really good to prevent them from cracking. They should do a video tutorial instead and show how to measure and mark the spot to drill and file. I think these will last longer being wider and thicker without the pointless hammer pattern and with the extra support. They cost a lot of money. It's a shame my old set busted on me.
I feel like I'm rambling on. Minus one star bad instructions. Minus one star not enough rear support.
Very happy - thought they might be more difficult to install but it was surprisingly easy.
Solid fenders. I’ve ran quite a few different fenders on bikes over the years and these Velo Orange are top notch. They are the best I’ve ever had in every way. Installation was super simple and when done correctly NO RATTLE. They look very nice too, very clean looking and high quality.
Definitely gonna recommend this brand for anyone looking.
Love my Velo fenders. Great coverage and built strong. So happy with this purchase .
I love the old school look of these fenders and that it’s aluminium alloy. I love the way it looks on my Trek 520.
My only issues (not really big ones) are some scuffs when it came and the way the front fender loosens up and rattles especially when I run over bad roads. Workaround I did was to get a lock washer to place between the nut and the bracket (the leather washer just doesn’t cut it).
I’m planning on getting some rubbing compound to address the scuffs to make them shiny and stand out.
I especially liked how very helpful they were when asked for some advice.
