The new quill stem is a work of art and superbly designed. It's now part of my 1977 Trek ishiwata 022 touring / race bicycle, with Campy/Gipiemmi drive train and Suntour bar end shifters. It's now a joy to ride in a heads up posture and l👀ks quite at home in a utilitarian yet elegant manner. Many thanks.
I've had this stem in two lengths for years and love the look and function. Always used it with the Nitto B115 bar. Recently I decided I wanted a shallower drop, so I purchased the Nitto M151 compact bar in a 26.0 clamp. I just tried to mount it on this stem. Not a chance—the bend is too sharp in places to allow it. Wondering if anyone has found a workaround trick. If not then I guess I'll have to get a faceplate stem.
Wow. Heavy. Sold it in less than two weeks.
Stem is looking great on my bike but the stem clamp bolt/welded nut isn't centered. Some machine marks on the side of the clamp as well.
Aside from that it works great, had to trim a bit from the height and it fits really well. Great test stem before I go for a custom fillet brazed.
