A more modern version of connecting hardware for classic 5-pin cranks. Stainless steel nuts, bolts, and alloy spacers. The huge improvement is the use of 4mm allen head fasteners instead of a tiny 8mm bolt and nut. No more skinned knuckles and stripped bolt heads.

Each kit is enough for one complete single or double crank arm set. Compatible with Velo Orange, TA, Stronglight, and most other 50.4 BCD cranks.

We recommend using a drop of Locktite on each bolt.

Nice bolts, but not for Stronglight 49D

This kit includes two sets of nuts and bolts — the set of six (with alloy spacers) that retain the inner ring to the outer ring, and the set of five that retain the outer ring to the crank. In this kit, identical nuts and bolts are supplied for both locations.

I have some old Stronglight 49D cranks and new TA chainrings. The set of six bolts that keep the chainrings together work fine. However, the set of five that retain the outer ring to the crank don't actually fit the Stronglight 49D. The sleeve nut is about 0.8 mm too long, and bottoms out on the crank before the chainring is tight to the crank arm.

My solution is to grind down the Velo Orange sleeve nuts by about 1mm. A better solution might be to find some 0.8mm to 1mm shim washers that fit under the heads of the sleeve nuts, since this will leave more thread to engage with the bolt. (I can find them online, but only in quantity 100). What won't work is to use the original Stronglight sleeve nuts with the Velo Orange bolts, because the Velo Orange bolts have a pitch of 0.8mm (the M5 standard), but the Stronglight bolts have a pitch of 0.75mm.
