The VO Crazy Bars are intended for touring on paved and unpaved roads, single and double track, gravel and crushed limestone, and everything in between.

The main, swept back section provides excellent control and leverage on rough and tumble surfaces, while the the bullhorn section offers an aero position for smoother roads and headwinds. The junction of the horns and sweeps feels similar to being on the hoods of drop bars and makes for a nice, neutral position.

The main bar uses a 22.2mm grip area so MTB grips, levers, and shifters fit. The "horns" are 23.8mm, so road components like bar ends and inverse levers are compatible. The stem clamp area is 31.8mm.

Crazy Bars are made from 6061 aluminum and are heat treated. Weight is a reasonable 532g. They are MTB-rated and available in sand-blasted Silver and Noir.

Crazy Bars

Perfect for my Bridge Club

I tried multiple bars and expirimented with Innerbarends before settling on the Crazy Bars, they have just the right amount of sweep for my wrists and I love the horns giving me another position for my hands.

They look weird, they are weird. These bars are fantastic.

Before these, I was getting wrist & hand pain with a PNW Range bar on trails. And while I did try running wide drop bars like the Walmer Bar - while great for gravel, I felt the hoods were insecure on rocky trails and the drops weren't useful for anything but descending on good quality hard-pack. So when I decided I had not yet spent enough $$$ on handlebars, I realized what I wanted was significantly swept back mountain bars with good rise and multiple hand positions for an added aerodynamic position. The crazy bar fits the bill. I installed a longer stem going from 80mm to 110mm to account for the shorter reach on the main grip area. What this also did was increase reach to the bullhorns. This was useful to allow a longer tucked aero position without having to crunch in my elbows too much. This is perfect for mountain touring (bikepacking) as the riding style in the southwest mountains tends to resemble an annoying amount of steep rocky, obstacle filled ascents followed by wide open (fast) gravel road descents where you can get away with a narrow, aero position. These are the perfect bars for this application.

If I were VO and in the mood to make changes, I wish the sweepback was more like 25* instead of 35* - I feel it is a little bit too much, and the bullhorns could be like 1" longer. But these are really minor issues and entirely subjective. I still love these bars more than any other type I've tried for ATB, gravel & bikepacking applications. They ride excellently both on loaded touring & lively mountain and gravel applications, not to mention they aren't too shabby on the paved paths and roads either.

Fantastic mix of speed and comfort for gravel rides! They come wide which I like but they would need to be cut down to ride comfortably in a city

Gravel Perfection

Fit the bars to a 2019 Salsa Timberjack with a carbon front fork and 700x50 tires and it is perfection.
