Common on European utility bikes, a front wheel stabilizer makes loading front racks simpler. It is a spring connecting the fork to the down tube. It adds a subtle self centering action to the front wheel, making loading and unloading of a bike with a basket, or say, our Porteur Rack much easier. The spring also offers some resistance to steering, so it counteracts deflections from hitting potholes and road debris.

  • Mounts to the back of the fork crown via brake bolt or through bolt
  • Fork crown mount diameter is made to fit an M6 bolt - common on nutted calipers
  • Use Sheldon's Fender Nuts to work with recessed brake bolts
  • Rust resistant and includes all required brackets and hardware
  • Available for Small (31.8mm and smaller) and Large (38-62mm) sized downtubes
  • Instructions can be found here

Not up for the job

I have a larger bike with a front rack. A Gazelle Tour Populair with 28 inch wheels. With nothing on the rack, just the wheel size alone is to much for Velo Orange. I can see with the plastic and lack of spring this was a waste. Its simply not up for the job. My frustration is mostly with Gazelle, with this type of bike it should have been addressed in its design. A small bike its fine just not mine.

Essential for Anyone Who Does Anything on a Bike

If you take your bike anywhere that sometimes requires parking it against a post, or need to sometimes only have one hand on your bike, get this. It’s a complete game changer that not only makes steering with heavy loads easier, it also cures the classic front wheel sideways whole bike fall down problem.

Perfect

It did exactly what it was advertised to do and what I wanted it to do. It makes it easier to get children into and out of a seat attached to the rack because the front wheel no longer flops around.

I attached the larger stabilizer to my old Trek FX. I needed Sheldon's Fender Nuts and two bolts from the hardware store to attach it.

Perfect for baskets & dual leg kickstands

AKA a "deflopinator"...but whatever you call it, it will keep your basket and/or dual kickstand outfitted bikes from having a mind of their own when you park them. This creates a more carefree and enjoyable biking experience for kids and adults alike. I have installed the small size wheel stabilizer on a Velo Orange Neutrino and a Priority Start 20", nether required the included shims to achieve a perfectly tight fit!

I modified the set up because I bought the wrong size

Bought the wrong size and found out that I can only fit on the top tube. So I connect to one of the stem bolt and got a longer one so that all will fit in place… park my bike and now no worries that the handle bar will suddenly turn especially with load.
