The Grand Cru Long Reach (47-57mm) caliper brakes are super stiff, probably the stiffest long reach brakes ever made. In testing, we found these to outperform every other long reach brake and many short reach racing brakes that cost significantly more. The smooth, dual-pivot design offers superb modulation and power - very important on a steep mountain descent. There is even clearance for 45mm fenders!

These are made in a small shop in Taiwan run by a former bike racer and engineer. The brake's finish is anodized and highly polished, so they'll look great for years to come. The included brake shoes come with high quality pads and take standard Shimano-type replacements.

Wrench and a carbon fork mounting nut are included. 355gms per pair including shoes, pads, and nuts.

Looks and works beautiful

These brake calipers look so good on my bike, but most importantly they work very well. I replaced my Sram red brake calipers for these.

Best Brakes I Have Used

I find the pernicious trend towards disc brakes on road bikes unsightly. I recognize the utility of being able to swap wheelsets for different applications, but as I love bikes I'd rather just buy a disc-specific model if I thought I needed one, and frankly, I don't. I purchased a Condor Fratello to replace an Ibis Silk Road carbon as I never really took to the carbon ride. I neglected to observe that the Fratello needed long reach brakes, and my local shop who built up the frame applied Tektro calipers, which worked, but looked really weird, and I was sad I couldn't use the Campy Chorus models I had hoped to. I sprung for the Grand Cru's, and I couldn't be more satisfied. They fit perfectly, look great, and perform flawlessly. If you need long reach calipers, look no further than Velo Orange!

A lomg standing probllem solved

I have been searching for a quality pair of long reach brakes ever since my custom built Gardin touring frame was completed in 1987, (cllearance for fenders). Medium reach models worked, but left me with NO adjustment. The Grand Cru pair does the job perfectly, while giving me current technology and fitting the aesthetic of my current build. Excelsior!

Best brakes I have used, period.

Far and away the best rim brakes I have used. They kept me from bothering with discs at all for years. I still think they perform better than disc when it's dry, albeit with a little less modulation. They do admirably in the wet (for rim brakes). The stock pads are awesome, and they work well with Kool Stop salmons as well.
