These Flat Mount Equal Disc Brakes from Growtac provide excellent modulation and power with a compact and lightweight design - perfect for your road, gravel, and touring bike.
In testing, we've found that the modulation is predictable, the caliper and system stiffness is confidence-inspiring, and the lever feel is natural and comfortable - offering superior performance compared to most other mechanical disc brake calipers on the market.

These brakes were a breeze to set up (and I am not a mechanic) and work wonderfully. Very little effort is needed and they stop on a dime and modulate well. This is on a sub 20# single speed with 160mm rotors. I have Klampers on my touring bike that is twice as heavy and has 200mm rotors and I don't think they stop nearly as well. Maybe not apples to apples, but I wish these were available when I bought the above calipers.
I'm very impressed with the Growtac brakes. I never thought that mechanical brakes could be so powerful. I put these beauties on my gravel+ and rode a steep rocky mountain roads, where I shouldn't bring a unsuspentioned bike to begin with. And they performed much better than I could expect. There was a 500-900 m vertical descends, one of them was a wet sandy road. The only thing they can't handle is very slow steep rocky descends, where they tend to overheating. But post mount brakes with 180mm rotors should perform better. But a speed of about 20km/h is enough to cool them down and make a 20 min downhils without stopping. I have tried other mech brakes, used them for several years. You know, the ones you can find on every other bike with mech brakes. And they are not in the same league. Absolutely worth the price. Because in my opinion, the brakes are the most important part of a bike.
These are well-designed, easy to install and adjust. A nicely finished product. The instructions are actually useful and easy to follow. Videos online are also useful. The braking power is as strong as hoped and hyped. Very precise feel for tight and twisty single track and great overall power for stopping on fast descents. The packaging and all the extra cable housing and doodads are a very nice touch, especially the many sizes of bolts included. Why is there not a rear rotor adapter included, though? Including that one piece would be grand. Will have to wait to judge longevity but so far so good! The first few hundred miles on these brakes have been awesome.
Replaced the cheap, border line dangerous brakes that came on my gravel bike with these and what a difference they make. The braking power is comparable to the hydraulic brakes on my MTB and the feel is good too!
Hi, had them for a month now, great braking power, more than TRP spyres slc, but as expected not as much power as a hydraulic setup, but with all the benefits of mechanical cable setup. They look great, light and compact and plays nice with internal routed brake cables coming out of the frame. Only downside is the specific brake pad thru axel/fixing bolt, and the cost of getting these spares from Australia.
