On the heavier side and locked down some rotors. The gold color is fire.

I bought these brakes after reading a lot of great reviews and youtube videos. The FAQs on the Equal website even state that they will work with the short pull needed for Campy levers. My local mechanic has spent too many hours trying to get them to work without success. I now have $400 brakes that won’t stop the bike.

these brakes are just like the hydraulics but without the hassle: they are amazing. true, they dont self-adjust as hydros do. but that is the only issue, and it's not really an issue...
i was skeptical, having used all kinds of mechanical discs. anyone who claims that v-brakes or other good rim brakes are not as good as discs...well, i respectfully disagree. VO has some super powerful rim brakes. but in a disc brake world (thank you monopoly capitalism), these are supreme!

These are excellent brakes! I was very impressed with the kit that came with the calipers, it includes everything you'll need (normal and compressionless cable housing, flat and drop bar inner cables, rear caliper screws for a variety of dropout thicknesses, cable caps and adapters, and the front 140/160 mount adapter and screws). Plus the instructions are very detailed and include torque specs, a detailed procedure for setting the pad location adjustments, and straight forward steps for centering the caliper over the rotor. I followed the recommendation of running standard cable under my drop bar tape and then switching to compressionless after for the front brake and once onto the down tube for the rear brake. Rear brake is slightly more squishy than the front but still plenty of stopping power.
They were easy to setup following the instructions and have gobs of stopping power along with good modulation. I dislike servicing hydraulic brakes so I'm glad to have found the Equals!
Picture of rear brake uses a Velo Orange 160mm rotor adapter which is not included with the kit. Bike has a 10mm thick flat mount area of the dropout and the Growtac included 20mm screws were used to attach the 160 adapter.

I bought these to replace the Sram Rival hydraulic brakes that came with my gravel bike. In my opinion they have superior stopping power matched with easy maintenance and adjustability, something lacking with hydraulic systems. Love these so much I'm already looking at obtaining my next set. Don't hesitate, these brakes are worth every penny.
