The clamping mechanism is too much of a hassle to make this worth it, even at this price.
I went from an old standard setback one bolt (not infinitely adjustable) seatpost to the Grand Cru (infinitely adjustable) zero setback seatpost and love it. It positions me comfortably on my 92 Marinoni. If the instructions are followed, it's a breeze to set up...and it looks gorgeous.
This is a very, very nice seat post. Super sexy with a quaint , minimalist , few parts design.I love that one bolt does it all. Looks amazing on my Salsa Fargo. Super easy to adjust, ONCE you get your saddle on it. That task, needs a bit of patience. Even with the post not installed on the bike, it took me a good 30 minutes to get the clamps on the rails, and the bolt started. I thought I stipped the clamp part where the bolt threads in to get it started, at least it felt that way.
Now sure if the bolt needs to be a tad longer or the thread entry part could be tapered to make this a tad easier?
I use a WTB Volt saddle. Once it was secure, all was golden.
I really wanted to love this seatpost. It’s very well made and it looks beautiful. But not only is it hard to install (not impossible), it’s very difficult not to cross thread the main bolt. Velo Orange makes some consistency amazing products, this one just falls a bit short of that standard.
I will include pictures of my cross threaded bolt. Is it my fault? Sure, but it shouldn’t be like this.
As it is totally impossible to install a saddle with standard rails (Brooks Cambium C17), this seat post is an absolutely useless piece of engineering!
Sorry you had problems with the installation. If you'd like to return the post, send us an email and we'll get you sorted. We've used our seatpost with that saddle here many times without issue. Here are instructions for installation in case you missed them: https://velo-orange.blogspot.com/2014/10/installing-zero-setback-seatpost.html
